Quote du jour/Linus

"I never thought it was such a bad little tree. It's not bad at all, really. Maybe it just needs a little love."
Linus

This December we went back to getting the Christmas tree off our land. It was growing alone, so it actually has quite a good shape, not withstanding big gaps in the branches. For quite a while now we've bought from a local tree farm, which gave us perfect trees, but this year we decided to just walk out the door and cut one down.

    1. Thanks. I wish lights showed up better in photos. We have the old-fashioned ones, and so wish I could capture them.

  3. I love the open space between the branches, especially toward the top. Our tree is so full, it's difficult to hang ornaments where they can be seen.

  4. These are my favorite kinds of Christmas trees, Nan. For decades I've bought the December issues of UK magazines and admire trees like this. And to know it came from your own land is perfect.

Plenty of spaces to hang ornaments!

  5. If I had my own land with trees growing on it, I'd definitely get my tree from there - it must feel extra special to know it has grown just outside your home for years before finally coming into your beautiful home as the centrepiece for your Christmas.

  6. How nice to be able to just walk outside and get a tree! I know that buying a real tree when we lived in Oregon was an adventure. And I didn't have allergy issues with those trees. The ones we get down here - for whatever reason, my nose doesn't love them. Love the quote with Charlie Brown and Linus!

    1. Amazing how some trees do that and others don't.

  7. It looks beautiful! And it is your very own! Lucky you! I'll be so interested to see it when decorated and full of sparkle. But it's already full of love.

  8. Eager to see this wonderful tree all decked out for the season. It will be a challenge to fill the spaces, but I agree they will enable your ornaments to show. I really do like it and can almost smell the pine. My little fake tree, on the other hand, has no smell and not many places to display favored old ornaments.
PS...I do love your desk!, but you know that.

    1. I'll tell you the story of the desk. It can actually turn into one of those benches you'd see in old pubs - the straight backed ones with arms! My father had a Pontiac dealership, and when he died people still owed him money. In those days, he must have offered personal loans, and my mother had to try and collect on those loans. This table/desk/bench was in payment of some of that money!!! It is simple, unfinished wood and I just love it. By the way, the tree is fir not pine.

  9. That Linus knows what to say to make us feel better about our tree. I think your tree is sweet. I have never had that type of tree before even though I have seen pictures of them. It will be beautiful when you get it all dolled up.

  11. I love your tree. We no longer have our own land with its many Charlie Brown Trees. Here is a link to one of our hem-demi-semi trees https://www.commonweeder.com/hemi-demi-semi-christmas-tree-on-wordless-wednesday/ Nowadays we go to a local tree farm and get small fat trees that sit on the marble topped chest in the dining room.
