Today's picture/house painting

The last time we had our house painted was thirteen years ago, and that was just the front because of a special occasion. The rest of it had been peeling away for decades! We are so very pleased. We hired two young guys and they were done in a couple weeks.

Back side of the house, before - it had been scraped at this point

and after

We went with a darker gray, painted the porch ceiling which was just wood before, and decided to change our Tomie dePaola doors for a red that we love.

  3. I love the colors - great choice. Also, photos of your home are bringing to mind lovely memories of a vacation I took to Massachusetts in early September, and a lot of the homes there I loved to look at.

    1. Thank you! I suppose the architecture of Massachusetts and here are much the same, at least in the old houses. Part of ours was built in the 1860s, and then twenty years later the rest of it was added.

  6. Every time you showed us pictures of your house before, I thought what a beautiful place it is, and how it looks like so much more than just a house - a true home. Now it looks even more beautiful!

  7. Love, love, love it!! The colors are perfect, especially the doors. Oh, how I can't wait to come visit. Now that we're retired and traveling, I hope we can get out your way in the next few years!!

    1. Thanks so much! It would be great if you could. I doubt we'll ever make it out there, though I would like to meet your mum.

  8. Beautiful, Nan, and wonderful colours.

This is such a big job: we have the barn to do in the spring. I'm very tempted to do just two sides of it because the other two face "woodland" that meets the barn and no one EVER approaches from (or for that matter, even goes around) those sides.
