Temperature report from Mrs Bale

Mrs Bale doesn't need her coat and hat this day!

5 pm

Outside thermometer on north side of the house

Inside thermometer in the north facing living room

But it is quite comfortable sitting in front of the fan, next to an open window, and reading.

  1. Thank you Mrs Bales! It is close to the same here on the opposite side of the Channel ...ooops, got carried away with -- of course I meant opposite side of the Country! (Here in Oregon, where Air Conditioning is not supposed to be needed either.)

    1. We don't have many days this warm, thank goodness.

  2. That looks wonderful. Here in Houston it's 96 degrees out doors with a heat index of 107. Inside I'm spending enough money to keep the temp at a cool 77 degrees but dread the electricity bill that will be coming at the end of the month. Enjoy...

    1. We don't have any ac, and thankfully don't need it. I would literally melt down there.

  3. Similar temperatures here, Mrs. Bale - but very high humidity and our air conditioner, which we do need, is not working. Today was less humid, thankfully, but yesterday we had a heat index warning. I still found a place to read, though. :)

    1. Do you have fans? I love my fans. One in each room of the house!

    2. We do have fans, but, it was so humid that even the fans weren't helping. It was one one of those days with a heat index warning, which sends folks to shopping malls and the theater. All is well that ends well - air conditioner is fixed, thanks to an enterprising husband and wonderful neighbor, and today dawned with low humidity and a sweet breeze.

    3. We almost always have at least a little breeze, thankfully. Glad your cooling is back!

  4. I don't mind high temperatures; usually, that time of the year is over so quickly, and the time when I need cardigans and woolly socks to keep warm is far too long :-)
Here in North Yorkshire we're having a wonderful sunny spell; it has been warm enough for t-shirts and capri jeans but not HOT, just right for nice long walks and hikes and sitting out in the front garden with our coffees and teas.

  5. Reading is the very best way to get through the heat of the day, if you ask me! I love that you seem to have no lawn in the back of the house - just the wild grasses and other volunteers?

If it's not too forward of me, I just posted about possible reading challenges for 2017. A comment you made a while back inspired one of the ideas. I'd love to hear what you think about them, as a reader. (No hurry, no pressure.)

    1. I'll try and post some pics of the back so you can get a better idea of this place. Thanks for your interest.
I saw your post but didn't have a chance to comment. I will come back and spend some time soon!!!

  6. It "cooled" down here to about the mid-80s yesterday after being in the 90s with terrible humidity most of last week. "They" say it's supposed to only be 75 tomorrow! It's funny how temps in the 80s feels good after being in the 90s or very low 100s, but we do love our AC and fans. I can't wait to move to Oregon, though. Ocean breezes and cooler temps are more my speed, the older I get.

    1. I don't know if you saw Sallie's comment above, but it's hot in Oregon as well!

    2. I did see it (I always read everyone's comments - take some time, but I enjoy the "conversations.") and now I'm following her blog! :)
