In May, we actually moved several daylilies out of that left (as you are looking at it) garden before the season began. We might remove a couple others this fall, but mostly I am happy with it. I'm a gardener that likes plants close together giving that 'cottage garden' effect. Thanks about the patio - it has now been there since 2006, though I can hardly believe it has been that long.
My success with sweet peas is very spotty. I've had a couple spectacular years, and many bad years. This one on the light pole was planted who-knows-when, and it just decided to come up this year when we took all the phlox out of that area. I'm quite sure it is a perennial sweet pea because there is only a very slight smell. We'll see if it comes back next year.
We have the orange ones that come early, and then the other colors come and stay longer so it ends up being a pretty solid amount of time we have them blossoming. Such a treat for the eyes!
I love those flowers -- they will be in bloom in Oregon right now too. Flowers are quite surprisingly (to me anyway) lovely here in Alaska -- but I haven't seen any lillies at all. Probably they need warmer winters (like I do!). Happy August.
My yellow (stella de oro) daylilies have finished blooming, but the orange ones are still plucking along. They really are gorgeous flowers and so reliable.

DeleteThey are pretty; mine are orange. At the end of the season you'll have to split them up; they appear to be over planted to me. I like your patio, too.
