When Mrs Bale is asked to be on a television show, she says no and explains: You see, I lead a quiet life and I rather like it that way. Having your handprints in cement outside Grauman's Chinese Theater may be some people's idea of enjoyment but I'm far happier with a good book and the shipping forecast. But I am rather pleased to learn that I have a Plantagenet face. Mrs Bale played by Janet Henfrey on As Time Goes By
Oh my, you will love, love, love it!! The premise is that a couple who was separated 38 years ago by the accidental loss of letters, meet again in London. It is the most wonderful show ever, in my most humble opinion.
I'm so fond of the character that I occasionally offer up my weather via Mrs Bale. I've taken a bunch of photos of her from the tv and put those up when she is featured. She has an amazing face.
I, too, love the series. My husband bought me the entire thing on DVD and we are currently watching it again. Third time through I think? We've also made a convert out of our 25 year old daughter. She kept hearing us refer to it and had to see what the fuss was about. Now she loves it too!
I'll answer your comments as soon as I possibly can. Please do come back if you've asked a question. Also, you may comment on any post, no matter how old, and I will see it.
I don't know As Time Goes By but you make me want to.

DeleteHow good it is to see Mrs. Bale again - and garner some of her wisdom.
ReplyDeleteSuch a dear character, and Janet Henfrey made her so real. Of course I watch it so often, they all seem real to me. :<)
DeleteI always look forward to seeing Mrs Bale here. I don't mind that she isn't on tv.
ReplyDeleteI laughed right out loud at your last sentence. :<) Love your dry wit.

I have always loved Mrs Bale; but if she were any different I wouldn't have been such a fan. Good thing the writers kept her true to herself!
ReplyDeleteWhoa! I never realized the resemblance! Like right out of a portrait.
ReplyDeleteLove me some Judi Dench, what a great way to spend an evening. Such a delightful series.
It really is so wonderful. I can watch over and over and never be bored.

DeleteI need to watch that series - nothing like dry British wit!
