    1. Funny how we don't think of Cagney as a dancer, but he was really good.

    1. Though I haven't seen this movie in ages, there are whole parts I remember. Watched it several times as a kid.

  4. A favorite film, and fun especially for its look at the rigors of a life in theater in days gone by.

  5. Hey Nan!
They showed this movie on Turner Classic Movie channel!
It is one of my very FAVORITES!! It is perfectly cast with the most wonderful actors/singers/dancers!
Did you know that the woman who plays Jimmy Cagney's sister was his sister in real life? That Rosemary DeCamp (who played his mother) was really younger than Jimmy Cagney? Did you know that I know this movie almost by heart! I made my Boy Scouts learn "You're A Grand Old Flag" when I was a Scout leader. I LOVE THIS MOVIE! On one of my posts for Thanksgiving, I found the clip where he says, "My sister thanks you, my mother thanks you, my father thanks you, and I THANK YOU."
Thank YOU for having this clip on here!!!

  6. I agree with Kay, above. I was so glad that the movie came at a time Thursday when I was able to watch it. Cagney is just amazing in it. And what great songs.
