Congratulations and many many years of happiness ahead (in this picture, he looks like he's off to a great start!). Contrary to common opinion, I remember noticing back then, when we first retired, that those people who are happiest in their jobs are happy in retirement too..!)

After my in-laws retired, I remarked at the heavily pencilled in calendar that they had on their wall, they said, "oh yes, since we have retired, it's all GO". Busy and happy for you too, I hope.
I salute anyone who taught for over 30 years! I've been in education for most of my life but not in the trenches. Thank you and enjoy your retirement. It doesn't look like you are going to become a couch potato.
It's fantastic, and I have no doubt that Tom's retirement will be as happy as Miss Read's was - only with some added benefit (you and your lovely farm, and daughter and son-in-law nearby!).

Congratulations to Tom on his retirement! My parents both work in the school system (dad as a high school math teacher, mom as a librarian) and they both retired from their schools at the end of this school year. They didn't have quite the long tenure as Tom. They are moving from Maine to Vermont to live with my grandmother, and my dad will probably try to find a new job there, but he doesn't know in what.
