    1. The jockey seemed so sweet. And such a great horse. I was pleased that the trainer finally had a Derby winner.

  2. Nan, this is totally off topic so you don't have to even post it, but I searched your entire blog to find your email address so I could thank you for all the good books I have read courtesy of you but to no avail. I had some titles to share also.

I cannot see it anywhere. It especially bothered me when you said that you had received e-mail when the comments were closed because I couldn't find your e-mail address. Could you mention where it is on your blog. Thanks!

    1. Thank you for letting me know. I removed it when I left the blog for a while, and never put it back. Those who emailed me must have already had the address. Anyhow, I just put it back. Click about me, under the blog pic, and then view my complete profile, and it's on the left. Sorry, and again, thanks!

  3. That is a great photo of the winner-blurring out the background and capturing all mud, guts, and glory.I admire the talent of photographers.

    1. I found it on the KD facebook page. Lots more have been added since I saw it. It was a messy track. Amazing how they run in such mud.

  4. I missed the Derby but I was at a crazy birthday party for two friends in a great warehouse space with a pinata of Yoda (May the Fourth Be With You party), fantastic Mexican food, and a burlesque troupe from New Orleans who performed (tasteful, nothing you don't see on the beaches of Europe)! One of the more unique parties I've ever attended! I actually did at one point go see if they had the Derby playing on their large screen TV, but they did not.

    1. I don't know how they do it in that mud. The jockeys have many goggles that they lift up one by one as the race goes on.

  6. Great picture, Nan. Whenever I see horses running in mud I always think they're going to slip. I can't see how they don't. I'm always on pins and needles. Still, it was a great race.

I don't have cable anymore, but I usually get to watch the race later on youtube. I wonder if Orb will go on to win the Triple Crown. Probably not. It seems just about impossible to do nowadays.

  8. Dear Nan,
I MUST tell you that I LOVE your header photo of those fantastic daffodils. Are they blooming in your yard? That bright color must be a TONIC for you!
