When the kids were younger and we went on vacation in the summer we'd stay in a rental house for a week. Those weeks usually ran from Saturday to Saturday. I've decided that I am going to do that for this coming week, without leaving home. I'm going to live in my house, on my land as if it were a vacation destination. And what that means is that I will not be on the computer during that time. If I went away, I certainly wouldn't haul this desktop computer with me, so I won't be using it on my little 'staycation.'
Hoping to spend a lot of time right here
I might join you in spirit- though I am sure your weather is more temperate and enjoyable than ours is here in Tennessee.
ReplyDeleteI like that word 'temperate.' I looked it up, and most of New England is considered temperate. 'uniform rainfall, warm summers, no dry season.'
DeleteHave a great "trip!"
ReplyDeleteIt was quite nice. I'll be doing a blog post on the changes in computer life in past few years. Things I noticed this week.
DeleteYour little staycation sounds lovely and relaxing. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI learned a bit about the part a computer plays in our lives now. I'll be writing about it sometime.
DeleteGood for you. Since you won't read this until your return" I'll say I hope you enjoyed yourself. (Actually I KNOW you will/did!)
ReplyDeleteYeah, it was good, and interesting in a few ways. More later. :<)
DeleteNan....sounds like a fabulous idea. Enjoy your unplugged time.
ReplyDeleteIt ended up being sorta unplugged. :<)
DeleteExcellent - enjoy your staycation!
ReplyDeleteIt was nice spending time reading books that I would have been spending online.
DeleteNan, have a lovely rest.
ReplyDeleteNot sure it was a rest, but it was a change. :<)
DeleteBy all means enjoy your staycation. You have chosen a great spot.
ReplyDeleteWe have a nice little sitting area on the porch. I love being there.
DeleteHave a great time on your staycation. Will look forward to your posts when you return home. :D
ReplyDeleteThank you. I love it that you 'look forward' to them. Really.
DeleteSounds like a great plan. Hope you will be able to walk past the computer without pangs of longing to sit down and blog.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I've said it many times, I think your home and your farm are wonderful, peaceful places and a perfect location for a summer vacation.
Have a very good time...take pictures...make notes to share when you come back.
I resisted blogging but there were a few 'irresistible' factors which I'll write about soon.
DeleteI didn't keep notes but I have a bit in my head that I hope to talk about, including three book reports.
What a fun idea! Make sure you avoid doing the laundry (living out of your suitcase) and housework and too much cooking so you don't break the spell :)
ReplyDeleteHa! Still plenty of laundry, and gardening. I picked something most every day for supper. I love it.
DeleteAh, to have a swing and a porch on which to swing in it. Have a wonderful, wonderful time, Nan! I love your peaceful spirit which always seems to get things just right. xo
ReplyDeleteI work on getting things 'just right.' I rarely achieve it. :<) But yeah, the porch is nice, if I overlook all the work it needs.
DeleteI'm delighted you will be taking a 'staycation' - relax and enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt was relaxing having the computer turned off. I changed some daily routines which I hope to continue now that I'm back on again.
DeleteWhat, no postcards?!
ReplyDeleteJust kidding! This is a brilliant idea and cleverly avoids the trap I always fall into: using my vacation to catch up on chores. Have a lovely and far-away time!
Ha! I didn't do many chores.
DeleteEnjoy enjoy!! Your porch-swing looks inviting, mind if I stop by....
ReplyDeleteJane
Would so love you to do so!
DeleteWhen you get back, can you post a close-up of that banner over your glider? I'm curious to see what it looks like.
ReplyDeleteI'm taking a "staycation" beginning on Friday for two full weeks. Can.Not.Wait! :)
They are Tibetan prayer flags. I'll be writing about them soon. A book came with them.
