The loss of Nora Ephron

I am so very sorry that Nora Ephron has died. A few years ago I wrote about how much I enjoyed her literary company in a book report on I Feel Bad About My Neck.

The New York Times and The Huffington Post have published especially fine and heartfelt pieces. And if you go to this page at the NY Times, you'll find links to the many articles she has written.

  3. Once again, it is on your blog that I come across an author's name for the first time. I just read your review of "I Fell Bad About My Neck" and added that one to my mental lists of books I'd like to read.

  4. I do not think there is another woman director who can replace her. She made movies women wanted to see. I loved "Julie and Julia".

  5. I loved her movies and written works. This is so sad. I was surprised to learn that she was 71. I think I'll re-read I Feel Bad About My Neck. I loved it and I Remember Nothing.

  11. Remember reading Heartburn a few years back which was an amusing read, even though it was a sort of veiled telling of her marriage breakup. Sad - she was only 6 years older than I am.

  12. I actually awoke this morning to the news on radio announcing that Nora Ephron had passed away - a sad sigh escaped and has been hanging around ever since. There were some moving tributes as well as laughter this morning on the morning television news rounds, and, of course, her legacy is her body of work. The first book group I was in read Heartburn when it was popular, laughing and crying, and then my current book group read I Feel Bad About My Neck, laughing and crying. It sounds like Nora Ephron was a very good friend to many. Thanks for the link to the NY Times, Nan. I'll do some reading a bit later.

  14. Thank you for the links Nan...and for sharing. I was so sad to read of her passing -- and nobody else around here really understood why. Some authors really do feel like friends.
