All I could wish for Mother's Day weekend …
was having Michael, Margaret and her boyfriend Matthew, and Tom alongside me in the fourth row from the stage at a Rusted Root concert! We had THE BEST time. Every single person in the place was on their feet dancing for the whole show. It is amazing to realize that Margaret was 12 and Michael was 9 when the When I Woke album came out. It is still just as great all these years later, as is the band. If you ever get a chance to see them, don't pass it up. They put on a great show. The audience consisted of people younger than Michael and older than Tom and I. That's a rare band that appeals to all ages.
I mentioned their wonderful song, Send Me On My Way in a sad posting from four years ago.
Here's a video from a 2011 show.
Hi Nan:
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a lovely Mother's Day.
Thank you, and the same to you.
DeleteA great way to spend time with the people that matter most to you!
ReplyDeleteYes!

ReplyDeleteIt was! And the same to you.

ReplyDeleteDo you know this band? They are just great. This whole family has loved them for so many years, and it was wonderful to see them in person, and so close!
DeleteThank you, and the same to you.
They really are fun! Put a little pep in my step after some gardening. Think I will hunt some more of their tunes down on YouTube. Happy Mother's Day, Nan!
ReplyDeleteThey are fun! There was such good energy at this show. I love this band.
DeleteThank you and same to you!
Dear Nan,
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic concert! So happy that you were all able to go and enjoy it together. Happy Mother's Day to you!
Love,
Kay
We felt so happy to all be there together! At one point Michael leaned over and said to Tom, I don't know any other parents who would do this. :<)
DeleteThanks and the same to you!
Oh my Nan, my boys love this band and went to several of their concerts when they were just out of high school. I believe the guys in the band are from Pittsburgh where I live. Good music. Didn't realize they were still making music. Happy mom's day!
ReplyDeleteOh, that's so great! And yes Pittsburg! They are unbelievably good in concert. Go if you can!
DeleteThat is so cool, Nan!!! Love that song and I guess I'm just not hip on band names these days as I've never heard of this group, but will be sure to see them in concert if they ever come my way!
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day!
They've been around a long time now, and are as fresh and unique as ever.
DeleteThank you and the same to you!
I smile at your special time.
ReplyDeleteDoing things with our children
warms our heart.
Belated Happy Mother's Day
to you :)
That's so true!
DeleteThank you and the same to you!
What a fun, fun time you guys must have had!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteIt was truly perfect. We have a few more concerts on deck this summer. Stay tuned. :<)
DeleteGreat to know they are still performing. I went to a concert of theirs years ago when we lived in New Hampshire. That was when I discovered that music concerts didn't have chairs for the audience any more, so I have enjoyed their recorded music since. It's just not the same, though, as all that energy being in one big place!
ReplyDeleteThat's what made it so wonderful! Dancing the whole time. There were chairs but no one sat. The venue was great -an old movie theatre. If you paid more you could get dinner and sit at a table up back.
