I've always loved being surrounded by books. Mark Twain is one of my husband's favourite authors, we have all his books along with various biographies of him on our bookshelves.
What a great quote. I think that we feel that way in a library or bookstore, but I think it is lost on the next generation. Kind of sad...they don't know what they are missing.
I've been thinking about this subject a lot, Mare. I saw a photo recently of two little kids reading from an iPad, and it made me sad. So much of life now is on screens. Paper books offer just about the only alternative, and if kids aren't reading them, I think we've really lost something important.
Thanks. I've looked around and not found it anywhere so I suspect Tom's grandmother wrote it as well as doing the wood burning. It suits this old house since the porch it hangs on faces the west.
