Quote du jour/Bridget Jones

But then I do think New Year's resolutions can't technically be expected to begin on New Year's Day, don't you? Since, because it's an extension of New Year's Eve, smokers are already on a smoking roll and cannot be expected to stop abruptly on the stroke of midnight with so much nicotine in the system. Also dieting on New Year's Day isn't a good idea as you can't eat rationally but really need to be free to consume whatever is necessary, moment by moment, in order to ease your hangover. I think it would be much more sensible if resolutions began generally on January the second.

  4. I had to laugh when I read this - I didn't begin my resolutions/goals until today, either. This quote would have been handy when I wrote my blog post today :)

  5. I've always felt that the proper time to make new starts and resolutions is September, when school starts. By January 1st, I'm already stuck in with whatever is occupying my time this year.

I only have a few modest resolutions. For one, I plan to continue to clear out clutter - I'm pleased that the corners I've cleared up in the past two or three years have STAYED TIDY!

Of course my house isn't ready yet for it's clutter-guru Peter Walsh inspection and may never be, but hey! it's good to have a goal.

    Happy New Year, Nan!

Canadian Chickadee, maybe it's good there are lots of beginnings during the year. :<)

Diane, and what about someone like me who doesn't go out to work. Does that mean I don't have to ever make resolutions?? :<)

Aisling, maybe you don't need to make any! And I wish the same to you and yours.

  10. I like to ease into the New Year myself - no use going cold turkey on a lot of good food, Besides it would be so wasteful.

Sept feels like the new year to this old teacher :)

  11. I like that, Kathie, 'easing in' - I find the 'new year' three times. Late Aug-early Sept, late April-early May, and late Dec-early Jan. Three chances for change!
