It was nice of the deer to clean up the gardens for you; however, I hope they don't return in the Spring to clean up the new shoots! Their cuteness and your appreciation factor will go down a few notches if that happens.
What a delight. Our urban deer are a little more visible this year because of the drought, but they are a little skittish, and not nearly so willing to hang out and browse the buffet!

Debbie, it's bear season here. Deer season begins in a month or so. Our land is all posted but we still don't go out into the woods during that time, and are happy to welcome any and all animals here.

Webster, we've never had trouble with any animals in the veg. garden. We're in the middle of 200 acres of woods so they have plenty to eat there in the summer without coming near the yard.

Shoreacres, the deer here are pretty bold. I've written about them in the winter watching and waiting for Tom to put down some grain for them.
We don't have as many deer around here as we used to and I miss them. One evening I felt something staring at me and a deer was about a foot from the bay window. :) My only complaint was when I had to take down the bird feeder because they emptied it every night.
Barbara, some people around here who like to feed birds even in the summer, will bring their feeders in at night so the bears won't get the food. The feed stores sell a deer feed for the winter if you want to attract them. I wrote a bit about this:

That's great! I know some people think they are just a big nuisance, but I still think deer are a little bit of wilderness magic.
