Housework/Finished floors

Quel difference from before! We are so very pleased. And really it wasn't such a terrible inconvenience. Tom began on Friday, and by Sunday morning all the floors were sanded, varnished, and dry!

  4. Tom thanks you for your enthusiasm! Can't eat off it, though. Dog hair and sand already!

  5. Absolutely worth the effort. BEAUTIFUL floors. Good work Tom. This reminds me of being on my hands and knees putting that paste wax on the wood floors of our house years ago. Lots of work but oh it brought out the beauty of the floors.

Your blog will be the best on the web! I just LOVE the changes!
Love the header....are the flowers lavatura?
The blue is so peaceful and quiet. The layout is great!
    And your floors...
    WOW!
What a treat to visit here!
    Thank -you!

  7. Really beautiful Nan! Give Tom a big hug and a kiss for all the hard work.

Love your new color by the way. Doesn't it match things in your house or the outside of your house or something?

  11. I almost had to chase my husband around the house with the laptop in hand to get him to look at these photos! I don't think he believes that he can do it here!

    Beautiful (and inspiring) results.

  12. Thank you, Joanne! Blogger offered some new templates and colors, and I thought I'd try it out. I'm very fond of that blue color, and am surprised at how much I like the black print with it. Fun with blogging! Like putting new paint on the walls of the house!

Lisa, the polyurethane went on with a soft roller kind of thing. I can't imagine the work of doing it on hands and knees!

Kay, most of my house has some variation on blue/green/gray. I love it.

Sherri, it sure makes a huge difference!

Pamela, I laughed right out at this! Ah, Mrs. Bale - don't you wish she were real and that she lived nearby?!

Staci, thanks. I had fun playing around with the new blogger options.

Clair, I read this to Tom. Too funny!!

  13. Joanne, I forgot to say, yes it is the 'genus Lavatera' - family 'malvaceae' - I looked it up. :<) I just call it the common mallow. I also have a tree mallow which is a bigger plant with bigger flowers.

  16. Gorgeous!! I think this is the year Rod and I will have all our carpeting torn up. (At least on the main floor in the living room and dining room.) It's such an expense to have it cleaned once or twice a year. And hardwood floors are so beautiful.

  17. Les, is there wood flooring underneath those carpets or will you have to put some down? I so love the look and comfort of wood floors with old oriental rugs. We've had carpet sorts of rugs before, and they've been terribly hard to keep clean. Our orientals have had every kind of animal 'mishap' with no stains, no odors, and easy to clean. I think you'll be happy with your decision.

  18. Wow - your floors turned out beautiful. Our wood floor looks exactly like your before pictures and I was wondering what kind of results we would get if we sanded them - and now I know thanks to you and Tom! It is definately on my project list now. Thanks for the inspiration :) Rebecca
