  2. If this is Donna in Canada, do you see it on a US PBS station or is it on a Canadian channel?? I can hardly wait.

  3. Oh that just finished here, and I enjoyed them so much! Hope you do too. Michael Kitchen is so wonderful - he never overacts the role, and I love the story lines.

  4. Hi Nan, Who could not love Mr. Foyle? We watch it on our local PBS in Columbus, Ohio. Now if I could only convince WOSU to carry Midsomer Murders!

  5. Rambling Fancy, isn't it just one of the best shows, ever?! The acting, the setting, the stories - all so perfect.

  6. Sharon, isn't it just wonderful!! If you have Netflix, I think they offer just about all the Midsomer Murders.

  7. Hi Nan:

Our local PBS station TVO has aired the three new episodes already, but sadly we were unable to watch. We will tune in to the Buffalo PBS station to catch it tonight.

  8. I am beyond excited! I simply am thrilled to death and can not wait to get these from Netflix. I hope it doesn't take forever for them to come out on DVD. I love this program!! Hooray!!

  9. Thank you so much for posting this! I probably would have missed it!

  10. Donna, that's great to have two choices. The cable company around here offers CBC, but not our Dish Network. I wish we got it.

Les, Netflix says the release date is June 1!

    S. I'm so glad I thought of it then!

For those who watched last night, wasn't it a great episode?! I learn something new every show. This time about the Russians, and about English society just after the war ended.

  11. Happened on it myself last night. I was in the mood for something restrained and English, and this was just right. Mr. Foyle is my new crush.

  12. Mary Lois, if you haven't seen the earlier series, they are all available at Netflix. Fantastic programs!

  13. We love Foyle's War! But we are still making our way through Season I (Netflix). No cable at our house, so we will have to wait for Season IV to come out on DVD. Something to look forward to.

By the way -- the main actor is in another great British television show (mini-series?) called House of Cards. He plays a very Prince Charles-like character. It's excellent. Have you seen it?

  14. Rose City Reader, all the Foyle's War series, from one through five are available at Netflix and six will be there June 1. I never did see House of Cards but will check it out. Thanks!

  15. We're Michael Kitchen fans in this house too, and were delighted with the new series. Hope there'll be more.
If you like Foyle, you'd probably like 'Lewis' too. Spin-off from Inspector Morse - have you seen it? The new series started here on Sunday and is excellent.

  16. Nicola, I DO love Lewis! I think the one you are now seeing will be over here in August! Can't wait. I think the team of Lewis and Hathaway is great. The Fox family of actors is just amazing!

  17. Nan, I just had to let you know we have Foyle's War starting in Australia this coming Sunday night on our national free to air television station the ABC.
I also love it and I'm so looking forward to seeing it.

  18. Patricia, it is such an interesting episode. Every time I watch I learn some bit of history I hadn't known before. This series could be used in high school or college courses. It brings history alive.
I thought of you when I posted the two poems this week - May is so different where you are. I wonder if it is difficult to be reading about spring when your May is autumn. I know that I used to read in wonder about April in England when I had snow outside.

  19. I did read your spring poems Nan and enjoyed them very much.
We don't have a lot of changes in autumn where we live in the sub tropics,it just gets a little cooler and less humid. This year we have had more rain than in the last few years and the gardens and countryside are looking lush.
I grew up in our very southern island state of Tasmania which has a temperate climate and distinct seasons. It is much like England in some areas so I have experienced real autumns and springs, hence I can relate to your lovely poems.
My sister was telling me on the phone last night that they have had the most beautiful autumn foliage this year and I listened with pangs of homesickness.

  20. I am extremely disgusted with myself for falling asleep after fifty minutes of thrilling watching.
    Coffee next time around!

  21. Patricia, this was so interesting. I know nothing about this area. Any fiction writing you might recommend? Any authors you love? Children's books?

Julie, Tom was asleep before it even began!! It will be out on dvd June 1, so you can catch it then.

  22. I hope you're enjoying the new series of Foyle's War, Nan? It's finished here, was only three episodes but I thought they were some of the best I've seen. The series is never less than thought provoking and Mr Kitchen is quite wonderful.

And now we have Lewis and Hathaway gracing our screens in the same timeslot. The first instalment was last Sunday and it was terrific. You have a treat in store in August.

  23. Cath, both series are so, so good. My very favorite kind of television.
