Rewarding

After writing 29 cards this snowy, snowy day, I was rewarded by turning on the CBC and hearing the MOST wonderful show. It is called Cross Country Checkup and today's program was all about books. People from all over Canada, including the co-owner of a mystery bookstore, Sleuth of Baker Street, called in talking about books they have loved. I was in booklover's heaven. In a while, the list will be up on this site, and there are booklists from other shows.

  1. Hello there. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery so, on that basis, may I borrow your Saturday Sally idea, and even use the photo of the Lincoln. Due acknowledgement will, of course, be given!

  3. Glad you enjoyed that show as well, Nan. I love to hear the young people. They were all so articulate! Stuart did the turkey story, and he said that next Sunday he will have a brand new Christmas story. I won't miss that for sure. if you do miss Stuart, you can listen to him by going to www.cbc.ca/podcasts and listen!

  4. S. Senex - I just left a comment on your Rambles blog with an idea for you to make yours individual!!
Linda, thank you so much! You may go to the CBC site for more info:

Mine comes from the Quebec station. If you have Sirius Radio: http://www.cbc.ca/sirius/
    Good luck!
Oh Peg, I thought of you when I wrote this, hoping you'd read it and stop by! We do get Stuart's podcasts. We'll often put a few on a cd and listen that way.

  5. I heard Rex Murphy speak at a teacher's convention and he was properly amazing. He recited his speech from heart, including all the words and phraing that he is known for. It was quite a performance.

I don't listen to him every week, but I leave my car radio on CBC, so I often catch him/Crosscountry Check up if I am out on a Sunday afternoon.

    Merry Christmas!

  6. And the same to you, raidergirl! What good teacher conventions you have! My husband would have loved being at that one.

  7. To funny about the Walton's. I make the Olivia's Applesauce Christmas cake every year. I do use the whiskey frosting...I love it. And, I cut down on the amount of nutmeg, because I agree with grandma, there is to much nutmeg in there for my taste.
We must have alot in common. As near as I can tell we both live in the same state also..although I think you are a bit further north than I.
