Saturday Sally/September 6

I'll begin this week's Saturday Sally with humor.

I am still laughing over the funniest blog entry title from One Perfect Little Miracle: Excuse Me, I Have To Go Wii. Not only is it hilarious, it told me in a way I will never forget, how to pronounce a word I've only seen and not heard. And it is a very interesting entry as well.

I've had Baking For Britain in my 'new visits' browser bookmark ever since I did a search for Lionel's, (in As Time Goes By) custard tarts. I've just added it to my bloglist, because it is a great site, not only for the delicious sounding recipes, but as an historical reference.

If you've read this online journal for awhile, you know that I enjoy poetry. I read one this week that I just love on Patrice's blog. Oh, Emily Dickinson, what a wonder!

  3. Oh my gosh, I have walked all over London looking for those blasted custard tarts. NOBODY has them. I even went to the shops in Holland Park, which is where dear Lionel is supposed to live, and guess what....NO custard tarts! I am off to Baking for Britain this very moment!!

    You have really hit a nerve here, can you tell?

  4. Goodness, I'd go miles to avoid custard tarts! I've always loathed them but my mother adored them. One regional peculiarity from my original home county is the Dorset Knob http://www.grovesnurseries.co.uk/Products.asp?fdProductSubCategoryId=148
    My two elder grandchildren have been staying overnight and insisted on having these odd little hard bread rolls for breakfast: they call them 'exploding biscuits' which describes what happens if you stick a knife in! Delicious with butter and jam though.

  5. I love custard tarts, but then I also love Eccles Cakes and Sticky Toffee Pudding. I had an English friend who defended the food by reminding me--"Breakfast and dessert!"
