Travelin'
Today Tom and I are going to a wedding in Massachusetts. Because it is an evening wedding, we'll be spending the night. Do you know that we haven't been away since 2001?! When the kids were younger, we traveled a lot, but not recently. I think having MacIntosh, our beloved epileptic Collie, made us reluctant to go away.
Our son is coming up to spend the night with Ben and Sadie, which will make all three very happy. We're going to listen to the first Mma Ramotswe book by Alexander McCall Smith on the way. Tom has never read this book and I am delighted to read it again.
Though the 1960 Pontiac Bonneville was the car of my childhood, today we'll be driving our new Beetle, which we bought last month!
Have fun, Nan!
ReplyDeleteHave fun!! Sounds like an adventure...great car too!!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE YOUR NEW BANNER!
Have fun travelin in your new bug Nan. I hope you have a good time.
ReplyDeleteNan, hope you had a great time at the Wedding!! My daughter had the same color Beetle you have, but she had an accident this Nov. with it and it was totalled. She loved that car. She wasn't injured either, that car saved her life!
ReplyDeleteHave a most beautiful time!
ReplyDeleteSmiles...

Have a lovely trip! when was it you were in Texas? 1999 or 2000?
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy the wedding but I expect after the trip you will be glad to get tucked back into your hill farm. The longer I live in northern new england the more reluctant I am to leave. But, I do leave and always come back richer for the experience but the return home is always very sweet.
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip- sounds like it's about time you got away. On one hand I think 2001 is not so long ago and then it hits me it's 7 years. That's a shock.
ReplyDeleteThank you all! It was a lovely wedding. Great to see our friends, and we danced a lot! The two improvements we see in the Beetle since our old one we bought in 1999, are the smoother ride and the pickup on hills. The old one took bumps a hard, and was a bit sluggish. Other than that, the seats are still the most comfortable I've ever known and the car handles so well. We can park anywhere. And we now have an in the dash cd player and a terrific sound system. And Michelin tires come with it! Sherri that's so amazing that you say the car saved your girl's life. Will she get another Beetle?
ReplyDeleteKay, it was 1998! Can you believe it?
Beth, you expressed just how I feel. It was so good to be home, even after only 24 hours.
I'm glad you're enjoying your new Beetle. Can you tell me what kind of mileage it gets? My Mini gets 30 in town and maybe 40 on the highway. I'm thinking about suggesting one of these two cars to our daughter. She needs something more economical than her Infiniti!
ReplyDeleteGosh, I must've have just missed you when you were in TX in '98. We moved there in March of '98. Maybe I was in VA for Rach's graduation??
Nan, I can't believe that it has been 10 years since we met face-to-face. Wow! Well, isn't it time for you guys to come back down again? There's a new Whole Foods being built not far from my house (tempt, tempt). Ha! I'm not sure I'll ever get that far north but I keep meaning to. We'll see.
ReplyDeleteLes, when was it that you and met here? You were here for a cheerleading competition I think. I had already seen Nan by then I know. You were living in Ft. Worth.
It was probably between 1999 and 2000. Hmmm, maybe we should plan a reunion. I could visit Amy in Dallas and head down. What do you think, Nan?! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't know the mileage, exactly. Around 30 I guess. As much as I'd love to, I don't know when or if I'll make it to Texas again; though my cousin has a new place that sounds terrific, and I'd dearly love to see her and her brother, and you.
