First food from the garden/Chives

Isn't that just the greenest green! I've got baked potatoes in the oven, and I'll serve them along with roasted garlic, and a bunch of chopped chives. And yes, we do make a meal of baked potatoes. :<)

  1. Do you have a problem with chives taking over your yard? We have some in a portion of what used to be an herb garden, planted by the previous owners of our home, and now I find the chives popping up EVERYWHERE! They are next to impossible to get rid of, so I simply cut them back as I do the nut-grass (which is a terrible weed that spreads when you pull it out of the ground - go figure!).

  2. No. I wish I did. :<) They are in a little patch next to the side door steps and there are four plants. I'm thinking of freezing some this year.

  5. Yes, Tara, they are perennials even in our zone 3-4. Hooray!

  6. I love baked potatoes - the filling can be as simple as you like, but they are so good (especially given proper baking so that the skin is well done and the inside meltingly soft). I'm getting hungry thinking about them and it's not that long since I left the table after supper!
