Today I had to go grocery shopping at the only supermarket in town. There were free hotdogs and ice cream sandwiches, there was a television with the game on, and the music playing in the store was all
Red Sox related: Sweet Caroline, Tessie, Dirty Water, We Are The Champions. I was happy, happy singing along as I strolled through the aisles.
a little trash talking, in fun :)
ReplyDeleteToo bad they are getting thrashed by the Jays today!
My best friend is from the Boston area. We always root for the Red Sox.
ReplyDeleteYou can't go wrong with that at all.
ReplyDeleteMy aunt in NC sent me this is how I found you.
Ah, blessed unity! We live at the crossroads of Cubs/Cards/White Sox-land and are a community divided. No store owner would dare choose sides. Now, the Illini are another story!
ReplyDeleteHuge Sox fan here. We celebrated the opening of the season with breakfast at 6 and the game from Japan.
ReplyDeleteGo Sox!
I'm a Red Sox fan who now lives away from New England. I love when I'm back in town visiting, and see this universal fan-dom. We were in Boston for the Superbowl last year, and it was nice just being out in stores, where everyone was thinking about and hoping for the same things. But my heart belongs even more to the Red Sox. Watching today's game right now.
ReplyDeleteI love to read your baseball posts. Keep 'em coming!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and simple. Those are the moments to cherish- if only everyone understood that, less of life would be wasted waiting for something. Excellent post.
ReplyDeleteSweet Spring - here on the north shore of Boston there is just a hint of Forsythia buds, only three inches of tiger lily leaves and the snow plow ice mound almost melted! But the Red Sox have had their home game! And the fans have sent their forgiveness to Billy Buckner. Forgiveness and Spring have similar characteristics. We among the Sox Nation understand that. GO SOX! All is well here - Mom on the north of Boston!
ReplyDeleteI thank each of you. It was just such a pleasure reading all your notes, even Raider Girl's. :<) Ian, would Bonnie be your aunt?? And Nancy, I just want to hug that boy! Joyce, I think southern New England has more of that tear. My husband spent the first few years in CT as a Yankee fan. Shudder. No more, I'll tell you. :<) Kat, I just knew you would do that. Without a tv, my ball game life is very interesting. I'm learning to 'see' with my ears. Jackie, I've never been one of the Buckner accusers. It takes a long day to make a ball game, not just one play.
