Today's picture/Wanna know what I hate?

I took this photo last May of a tick who was full. Yuck! This year looks to be a very big tick year. So far, Tom and I have had like seven or eight on us. Yuck squared.

  1. Luckily I haven't had a tick on me yet but my sister has had several too. They must have enjoyed our wet spring. UGH.. I share your disgust of them.

  3. Yuck, yuck, yuck!! Not so many of those here but I just killed a cockroach (worst thing for me to be in my house and I don't have them often at all) in my book closet. AHHHHH!!!!! I need to go lie down.

  4. Yuck! I used to get them at Girl Scout Camp. Do you have to worry about Lyme Disease Where you live?

  5. Ticks. A few years back, our dog Sam walked the length of the Fowl Meadow Wildlife Sanctuary along the Neponset River in Milton, MA. Unbeknownst to us he picked up several deer ticks each of which blossomed like a blood blister. He contracted Lyme disease, but thankfully he took the treatment very well. We walked with him and didn't get a one, but what a scare. Now, right through the winter we treat him with Frontline Plus and the ticks die in his fur before they can attach. Still, the deer romp around here and I'm vary wary.

Love your blog. I want to move North one of these years but my wife is constitutionally opposed to the cold. Any tips?

  6. Their UK cousins are just beginning to make their presence felt; they even managed to get through the dogs' first line of resistance (ie Frontline) and one tried to take up residence on my arm while I was reading the other evening. (No chance.) But we are prepared! Well, we have to be, this is England's South West - deer and sheep country.
