Reading time

You read your Emily Dickinson, and I my Robert Frost. The rest of the song is sad but I've had this line in my head all afternoon as Tom read his John Mortimer (The Penge Bungalow Murders), and I the book about Virginia Woolf and Vanessa Bell at St Ives. He in the warm kitchen, I in the cooler living room; dogs going from room to room throughout the day. The sun was streaming in, but I had no reason to go out. Ah, peace. I do so appreciate times such as these, and ask for little more. A simple soul am I.

  1. If that's being a simple soul, then that's fine with me. Lovely day!!!

  2. I am always so interested {that should simply read... I am nosey! LOL} about why people have this setting, on their blogs.

"Your comment has been saved and will be visible after blog owner approval."

I wonder, did they have some nasty experience and it's 'burned' them, and so they do this vet-the-comments-first thing?

Or are they not sure they can check the comments often, when they come into their mail box? And don't want some weird thing to be commented, before they find it?

    Or what?

Since you can post this or not... I can ask it here. And of course, it is completely up to you, if you answer the question. Or if you do not. If you post the comment. Or if you do not. Whatever. :-)

I love it in a way... Since I know I'll not hurt anyone's feelings or be really out of turn... by asking.

There! I know that curiosity killed the cat but I don't think that will happen here. :-)

  3. Mari-Nanci, I used that setting from the beginning, and have kept it. I haven't had a bad experience, though there have been a couple comments that had nothing to do with me or a post I made; I was 'found' because of a subject I was writing about. I just think it's a good idea in general. For example, if someone doesn't have a blog, and we need to get in touch, she can leave a comment with her email address (which she may not want to be made public), and I'll copy it down, and 'reject' the comment. My comments don't come in my email. I chose to not use that option. I just go to my dashboard off and on to see if there are new comments. I hope that answers your question.

  4. What a perfect day, Nan. I had a similar one due to a 'funny tummy' and pouring rain all day. I ensconced myself in a comfy chair by the fire and read and snoozed.

I think nest time I'm in St. Ives I should send you a postcard. Actually, I could also send you a photo from when we were there in Oct. Did you get that last one I sent okay?

  5. What a lovely way to spend a day—I suppose I am a simple soul, too, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

  6. What a perfect day! I think a simple soul is more complex in this day and age than ever before. Just think if more were a simple soul, what this would could be like. That has been the great thing about blogging which fits into that simplicity. You see things clearer and take a moment longer to linger and think about what you see. Thanks for this post dear friend!

    Hugs ~

  8. Oh, I'd love that Cath. We did visit Cornwall a long time ago, in 1977, but I don't think we were in St Ives. And yes, I did get the beautiful picture!

And thank you Anita, Nancy, Heidi, and Lisa. It really was a great day. Today was a bit the same. And Lisa, it is much colder here, and getting colder!

  9. I love it when Rod and I spend a weekend afternoon reading our books together in the living room. Definitely a good reason to try to get all my housework finished during the week!
