Today's picture/Thanksgiving survivors :<)

I wish, I wish I had a thousand dollar camera with a super-duper lens so you could really see the beauty of these gorgeous birds. I counted over twenty. They are eating fallen sunflower seeds and cracked corn under the bird feeders.

  2. Thanks, Cindy! They stayed about two hours, and what a sight they made as they flew away. It turns out there were 27 in all!

  3. We used to have wild turkeys down at Raft Bayou, but in recent years we've seen them only rarely. My husband says he's seen bobcats and that may be the reason in the turkey reduction. I miss them; we always looked for them when we were down there.

  4. Turkeys! We don't have them here but we saw the local flock whilst visiting a friend who lives near Pittsburgh, two years ago. They marched right through her garden every day, mum, dad and babies, and it was magic to see them. Ah, memories...

  5. I think you did pretty well with the camera you had in hand! I grew up on a turkey farm, my grandparents second jobs during the holiday season. They are pretty stupid birds but then with a head that size, the brain cannot be all that big! I still liked them quite a bit though and I still do! Love the pics!

  6. How fun - thanks! Several years ago we had a pair of wild turkeys fly into our trees and sit for awhile - it was awesome! This year we've driven by an estate on the lake and seen turkeys near the road several times - a safe haven no doubt!! They are so cool to see.

Loved the quote about graciously receiving and giving gifts - it is a talent worth perfecting. I haven't read any of DES' books - now they're on my list. I'm going to have a lovely winter!!

  7. The largest bird at my feeder is a crow! Would be a big surprise if a wild turkey showed up here on Vancouver Island.
I used to get Snowbirds on PEI and I really miss them, but I am happy with all the birds at the feeder. Unfortunately, there are six cats on this little street!

  8. This is so neat. I can't believe you had such distinguished visitors. Guess they were saying think of us as Christmas approaches ~ LOL!
