Quote du jour/Rachel Peden

The serene philosophy of the pink rose is steadying. Its fragrant, delicate petals open fully and are ready to fall, without regret or disillusion, after only a day in the sun. It is so every summer. One can almost hear their pink, fragrant murmur as they settle down upon the grass: 'Summer, summer, it will always be summer.'

  1. Nan, thank you so much for visiting my blog and for the nice comments. I had to come see you and had such a great time...I guess I will have to pick up the new Ray Davies cd! The Kinks were one of my favorites. Loved your photos and stories...a great place to spend some time. I will be back...thanks again.

  3. Pamela, it's wonderful how beloved the Kinks are! Thanks for visiting.

Thanks, Les. I try to change it according to what's in bloom (well, Sooty is in bloom all the time :<) - we had brought him out for a supervised jaunt the time he was the blog header). The peonies have gone by and now the mallow is the star of the garden.

  4. Nan, dropping by again after a spell away, and backtracking through the days I hadn't read. I think this quote is beautiful, and the photo of the petals among the grass captured for me its lovely melancholy so well.

  5. Oh, thanks so much, Lois. I was tickled to see those fallen petals. Good to "see" you again.
