Today's poem - With Nighttime Falling by Iva E. Reed

Iva Reed is an old friend of mine. Though I do not like milk toast, I have fond memories of my mother eating it. I love this poem.

With
Nighttime
Falling

You know
what I'd like?

I'd like
some milk toast
like my mother used to make

And perhaps
to hear the woodthrush
calling

with
nighttime falling
at the edge of the wood

  1. I have never tasted milk toast and hope I never do! It doesn't sound at all appetizing!

  2. I'm just not a fan of warm milk in any dish. But many people really love milk toast, and think of it as a "comfort" food. My mom made it often in the evenings.
