Quote du jour/Gladys Taber

Here in New England, you may plant when the maples are in leaf. Lettuce and peas and chard go in when the maples are in bud. It is wonderful to look out and see the rosy mist against the soft sky and know the maples have given you a sign.
Gladys Taber, Stillmeadow Seasons

We are just a bit past bud, but not in leaf yet. Today Tom tills the garden, and then we plant peas, sweet peas, and lettuce. Still very windy and a bit chilly, but the sun is gorgeous and so, a perfect day for the first planting of the year.
