These grow all around my daughter's rental house in the woods. We don't have any on our land. They are called Red or Purple Trillium, and also Wakerobin and Birthroot.
I
read that picking the flowers of Trillium can seriously injure the plant. The three leaves below the flower are the plant's only food source and a picked trillium may die or take many years to recover.
