With the temps in the mid-thirties (above zero!), finally we could take a walk up the road into the woods. The first interesting sight was this tree. The man who is logging here told us a porcupine has eaten all this bark.
More logs at the landing.
New growth where logging was done fifteen years ago.
One of the many springs on the hill.
Doggedly walking home.
Posing for the camera.
I wish I could have been with you and the doggies walking along!!! They are so gorgeous!!! Love the porcupine tree!!
ReplyDeleteI love this last picture. Such a sweet face! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks to both of you. Isn't that tree amazing. Apparently, they do a lot of damage to the forests. Years ago there was a bounty on porcupines, but now, their natural enemy, the fisher, has increased in population, and they keep the porcupine numbers down. Fishers are vicious creatures, and kill domestic cats. We've lost cats to both coyotes and fishers, which is why all our cats live inside all the time now.
