Rosemary & Thyme

I love the television series Rosemary & Thyme. It features two gardeners who have made a life change in their fifties. They are energetic, cheerful, great friends, and amateur sleuths. The cases aren't the best mysteries on tv, but it is so delightful to watch them and to see the terrific gardens that this viewer doesn't care at all. The stars are Pam Ferris and Felicity Kendal. My husband and I have been fans of both of them for a long, long time. We first saw Pam Ferris in The Darling Buds of May, and Felicity Kendal in Good Neighbors (The Good Life in the UK). The third series is recently available on dvd, and I'm happily watching each evening.

  1. This looks like a really fun show. It puts me in the mind of two things to recommend:

    1. The #1 Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith. (you probably already have read this series, but if not, you will LOVE it!)

    2. My Mom is raving about House of Elliot on DVD, another British series that sounds right up your alley.

I just got back from my friend's house we were listening to Pink Martini!!! and also I bought the new CD by Corrine Rae Bailey....very good. I think you would like it a lot!

  3. Laura, I do love the McCall Smith books! And I have House of Elliot in my Netflix queue. Another friend recommended it highly. And I have the Corinne Bailey Rae. She is wonderful. This was actually one of my early "today's cds".

  5. Thanks for coming by, Rachel Ann. The scenery really is amazing. In later episodes, they travel a bit outside of England to other beautiful gardens (and crimes, of course!).

  6. I love the show Rosemary and Thyme, but sure miss it not being on any longer. When will it be revived???? And we could use more Miss Marple.

  7. Pug (what a great name!) - I doubt it will be revived. :<( Have you seen the new Miss Marples - one set with Geraldine McEwan and a more recent one with Julia McKenzie? I haven't, but some people say they just aren't Joan Hickson! And I guess the story lines have been changed. I wonder if you've ever watched Doc Martin? We love this series about a doctor who moves to Cornwall - he can't stand the sight of blood!
