A Year of Morning Gardens

In April, 2006, I began a year long project. On the 19th of each month, in the morning, I took a photograph of the same garden area to document how it changed through the seasons. The results follow, beginning in the April spring and ending in the March winter.

  1. Oh Nan! You are so blessed to have such a beautiful place to live it. It all looks so incredible and so peaceful. I so wish I lived in a peaceful place like this.

  3. Heidi, your country place, and all the photos you post of Holland look very, very beautiful to me, as well.

Les, I'm thinking of doing it again, only this time of a specific flower garden, beginning when the snow is gone and taking photos every week. Last summer I kept a weekly garden journal in my email program with photos, and will probably bring the same idea to the blog this growing season.

Thank you both for stopping by. Wish I could give you some tea. :<)

  4. Nan, On my blog, I invite readers to "walk with me through the seasons." I feel as if I have done exactly that with you today. I love the photos. I have a lot of garden photos and have them kept in a seperate folder on my PC to watch as a slideshow, when I need garden inspiration. I had never thought to do the same scene on the same day of each month though. You don't mind if I borrow that wonderful idea, do you? :)

  5. I'll have to go see it, Aisling. I've been busy lately and haven't visited blogs as often as I would like. I hope you do your photo essay and then post it, either as you go, or a year later. As I told Les, I'm hoping to do it in another way, and maybe I'll do more than one garden. It would be fun to do, say corn, from seed planting to the formed ears months later. Thanks for coming by.

  10. Thanks, Karen and Linda. I had tried this some years back, before digital cameras, and it was so much harder to do. Trying to get the same angle, the same view was more work when I couldn't see the results. With the dig cam, if it wasn't right, I could see immediately and go right out to take more shots. I was lucky with the dogs. It wasn't planned, really! And I was so pleased that all three were there in the last shot.
