The silver maple lost some big branches, and a poplar fell on a little apple tree - all things I didn't show on the blog because they aren't right close to the house, and I wasn't going to walk a ways in the snow to snap pics. :<) There has been a lot of press about poetry in schools, spearheaded in great part by Caroline Kennedy. Her latest book is Poems to Learn By Heart and it just came out a couple months ago. (Mrs Bales' suggestion was a good one.) And it melted so quickly (I guess that was to be expected this time of year.) I'm not at all used to snow (in just usually rains and rains in Oregon) especially this time of year! <br /><br />Today's post is wonderful...I hope the lilacs survived mostly and this blossom is so beautiful and Robert Browning's poem is a wonderful old favorite and perfect. (And BTW, I wonder if kids ever still memorize poems in school? ).
