I probably would have sang along. Then your dogs would definitely have been howling. :)Lisa at Greenbowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07743973292900758183noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049626897935912366.post-17110417668868679952007-11-30T15:19:00.000-05:002007-11-30T15:19:00.000-05:00I first "met" Alan Titchmarsh on the Groundforce s...I first "met" Alan Titchmarsh on the Groundforce show on BBC America. He and his crew would go to someone's home and make a surprise garden, at the request of a family member. You could feel his kindness and joy in life come right through the screen. I've read one fiction book by him (twice) called Animal Instincts, and a nonfiction memoir called Trowel and Error. They were both great, and I plan on reading another memoir by him during the Celebrate The Author challenge. This is a great book for "dipping" as Cath says or for reading straight through.

Alison, last year I wrote about one of my favorite books for this time of year, here:

http://lettersfromahillfarm.blogspot.com
/2006/12/twenty-four-days-before-
christmas.html

It is set in New England and I'm quite sure you will love it. Sadly, this will be the first year I will read it without Madeleine L'Engle in the world.Nanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15547916206007733970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049626897935912366.post-65594178159526626892007-11-30T14:31:00.000-05:002007-11-30T14:31:00.000-05:00This sounds like a heartwarming book for the seaso...This sounds like a heartwarming book for the season that I MUST get my hands on! This time of year I always go back and re-read the "Winter" chapters of my beloved Gladys Taber books, and I'm glad you've shared another Christmas book for me to devour. Do you have any other uplifting, particulary "wintry" favorites, perhaps some set in New England? :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049626897935912366.post-51966510683227516332007-11-30T11:51:00.000-05:002007-11-30T11:51:00.000-05:00Mmmm, sounds like a delicious book, to dip into at...Mmmm, sounds like a delicious book, to dip into at this time of year.

Mari-Nancismilnsighhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17207943167502354530noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049626897935912366.post-75584912156437540382007-11-30T09:10:00.000-05:002007-11-30T09:10:00.000-05:00I love Alan Titchmarsh - he's a genuinely warm per...I love Alan Titchmarsh - he's a genuinely warm person.Cornflowerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17779286635989616330noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049626897935912366.post-43589034506719651252007-11-30T06:42:00.000-05:002007-11-30T06:42:00.000-05:00This sounds like an absolute joy to read.
