I then went back to read the early ones and truth be told, I'm not sure I don't prefer those to the HV ones. Something more consise and to the point about them I feel. Regardless, they are all very good indeed. If you haven't read the short stories I can recommend those too. Also loved Lord Peter. I would agree with Nan that they should be read in order because of character development. My favourites, however, are those that chart the love story of Harriet vane and Lord P and I think the best out of the entire canon is one of these, Gaudy Nights. I know Ian Carmichael was brilliant but do check out the sadly few which were made with Edward Petheridge. He is absoolutely marvellous.Elainehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08408101165520113965noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049626897935912366.post-30632738318405692982007-11-23T12:04:00.000-05:002007-11-23T12:04:00.000-05:00I just love Dorothy Sayers! B and I just revisted the old PBS series with Ian Carmichael, (thanks to Netflix), and loved them all over again.Robinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01857602206725562335noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049626897935912366.post-7364410264731918382007-11-22T07:59:00.000-05:002007-11-22T07:59:00.000-05:00Jos and I enjoyed the television series of Lord Pe...Jos and I enjoyed the television series of Lord Peter Mysteries when we lived in Sweden. There were so few shows that were not dubbed over in Swedish. This was one that they simply subtitled. We loved watching them and thought they set the perfect scene for each mystery. I have never read a Dorothy Sayers book.

Love the book quote by Lord Peter!

~~ Heidi ~~Heidihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05306674979528881706noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049626897935912366.post-37667655359453953722007-11-21T21:52:00.000-05:002007-11-21T21:52:00.000-05:00Hey Tara, if you go here:http://www.fantasticficti...Hey Tara, if you go here:

http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk
/s/dorothy-l-sayers/

there is a list in order of publication. I'd start right at the beginning because there is development of characters as time goes by. I just love these books. And if you haven't seen the old PBS shows, they are at Netflix. Just be sure you see the name Ian Carmichael as Wimsey. It wouldn't hurt at all to see them first. Then you have the wonderful image of the actor.Nanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15547916206007733970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049626897935912366.post-44628962204874138562007-11-21T21:10:00.000-05:002007-11-21T21:10:00.000-05:00It seems I should investigate reading Dorothy Saye...It seems I should investigate reading Dorothy Sayers.
