Product placement/Himalayan salt

I saw this salt at my local Co-op, and thought I'd give it a try. It is apparently like a million times better for you than good ol' Morton's iodized salt, or even sea salt. There's a lot of info here and here, if you are interested in learning about it. In addition to the benefits, I can tell you it is delicious. I am a big salt girl. I don't feel badly about using salt because I don't eat processed foods which are usually loaded with it. And this stuff really tastes good. I use the one on the right for salting soups or adding to things and the one on the left for salting my food. It is a bit crunchy and sweet, and it looks so pretty! I love this salt.

  2. I think my mom has some of the pink sea salt, but I haven't tried it. I only use salt on my eggs and in my guacamole. Other than that, I don't feel I need it for the extra flavor.

  4. Himalayan salt is a wonderful ingredient. I have the same container you have on the right and a similar grinder as the one on the left that I grabbed on a mainland visit to Trader Joe's. I have a bit of a salt "fetish" and like trying and using all different kinds and even flavors of sea salts but find myself often coming back to pink! ;-)

    1. Wow! Thanks for telling me. Have you seen the Himalayan salt candle/light holders? They are pretty amazing looking but I haven't bought one... yet.

  5. I think I'm going to give some of this a try. Did you know there's sugar in 'good old Morton salt'? They call it dextrose, but a rose by any other name . . .

    And I love your large header of your beautiful Lab. We've had two of these wonderful pups over the years.

    1. I did know!! This stuff is so much better! Lucy is our first purebred Labrador. We had two part-Labs before, and we see both of them in her.

  6. Who would have thought salt could have different tastes? I'm more of a salty person too, and you're right, it's like fat, only bad if too much or in processed food.

  9. I'm a big salt fan too! I use it unapologeticly. I normally use flake salt but this post reminds me that I have a big grinder of Himalayan Pink Salt that I picked up at Costco not to long ago. I need to pull it out and start using it more.

  10. I've heard of Himalayan pink salt but never used it. Now I'm curious! I use sea salt mostly. And I *did* know there was sugar in table salt ... which is why I haven't bought it in years.

  11. We try and keep from too many processed foods too so I do use salt liberally. Not in everything but.....
    I saw from Deb's comment they have it at Trader Joe's so I will go look today. I need to get eggs there anyway 😀

  12. It does look good -- if there are tomatoes in that garden along with the beautiful lettuce, I can imagine the joy of taking a handful out to the garden and dipping a just-picked warm tomato into it. Yummmmm!

    and really never used much salt in the past.

    such a wonderful taste
    ordered mine from Amazon with a little wood box I keep it in...
