Quote du jour/Dorothy Blake

The old-time poets, who used to write so mournfully of the sad November days, must have kept out of sight and smell of good home cooking and the busy ways of homemaking. Nothing sad about those, to my way of thinking.
Dorothy Blake, Woman's Day magazine, November 1952

  1. This is the time of year I love to put up the christmas lights because the warm glow of the lights really lifts my spirits. Even if I didn't celebrate Christmas I would want the lights. I always want to rearrange this time of year too. :)

  13. For Thanksgiving day, my wife roasted the turkey, my daughter baked a cheesecake with sour cream topping, my son baked his coconut chocolate chip cookies. Me - I churned some home made vanilla ice cream. All done in one kitchen, one oven on the day our family, including grandparents, sat at the table together.

I'd say that was a darn good day too.

Love the wreath and wish I was an old soul myself...right now just old. And planning to get older... :)

  14. Jeff, such a wonderful day you had! Thank you for telling me about it. I'm interested in both the cheesecake and the cookies if you want to send me the recipes. :<) Old? I think not.
