The Southern Reading Challenge

Even though I said I wasn't going to join any challenges, the Southern Reading Challenge, which Maggie offers is right up my alley. Here are the rules:

3 Southern Setting Books by Southern Authors in 3 Months beginning May 15 through August 15!

My three choices are:

Meet Me At The Butterfly Tree
A Fairhope Memoir
by Mary Lois Timbes and Robert E. Bell

Sartoris
by William Faulkner

The Prince of Frogtown
by Rick Bragg

  2. Oh, I do hope you like Rick Bragg's book better than I did!

I was tempted to join this challenge, but I'm just so terrible with my follow-through. However, I'm going to read some essays by Truman Capote. I have a library book that I got for my hubby and have already read one of the essays. My goodness, Capote is such a marvelous writer! Don't ask me what the title is. The book's all the way downstairs. :)

  5. Love the new header! My spouse would covet your lovely old glass bottles for his own collection.

The Southern Reading Challenge sounds like fun. I admire your and respect choices, though I must admit that Faulkner could never be on any such list of mine. I developed an allergy to him years ago when Abaslom, Absalom was forced upon me.

There were so many other regional authors I preferred--Eudora Welty, Clyde Edgerton, Harper Lee, Carson McCullers, Fannie Flagg (her earliest novel), and countless others.
